happy long weekend!

Nothing excites a college student quite like a 3-day weekend (except maybe when your Friday class gets cancelled and it suddenly turns into a 4-day weekend!). I'm headed to the other side of the mountains today to spend the holiday weekend with my family and dogs. And although I won't be frolicking about in the ocean like Ms. Monroe, it should be a nice weekend anyway. There's really nothing on the agenda and that's just fine with me. See you Tuesday! Enjoy your extra day of freedom. xo

j.crew wedding

{via j.crew}
I've always fantasized about a romantic miniature wedding dress for the "party" portion of my future wedding. There's something so fabulously dramatic about an outfit change, and who wants to dance all night in a floor-length Cinderella gown anyway?
I love, love, love this new piece from j.crew's fall lookbook. Come on -- that tulle, that lace, that bow... It's all so romantic and flirty- perfect for an evening reception.

And because I always get a little carried away admiring all-things 'wedding'...
...A dreamy bridesmaid dress
...The perfect wedding accessory
...Sparkly flower girl ballet flats
...And a crinkled silk chiffon gown for the ceremony.
Happy Wednesday! xo

rich and glamorous

Good Tuesday morning, readers! Monday has come and gone, along with two tough exams and night #1 of copy desk. It's all downhill from here, and this morning, as I stuff my backpack with too many notebooks, I'm getting a head start on my long, holiday weekend daydreaming.

I'm envisioning a hot, sunny afternoon spent on a fabulous (and gigantic!) yacht, with an even more fabulous outfit... Sophisticated black and white staples, spruced up with rich corals, greens and golds. A bottle of expensive champagne, a pair of movie-star sunglasses and nothing but water for miles...

I know it's a stretch, but that's why they call it a daydream, right? Happy Tuesday! xo

"love knows no age..."

Meet Gracie, 3, and Zeke, 4. They're in love. And they are precious beyond words.
These photos from Green Wedding Shoes are just absolutely too cute not to pass on to all of you. Gracie's mom is Joy from Wildflowers Photography and she ever-so-sweetly captured her daughter's first love in a dreamy woodland shoot.

[A few notes about the photos:]
-Gracie’s dress is a custom made replication of a woman’s vintage-inspired Anthropologie dress and her accessories are all from JCrew. It was made by Lullaby Birds
-The matching converse shoes:  Zeke gave her his own pair of chucks when he outgrew his and then had his mama buy him the exact same ones so that him and Gracie could always match.
-The paper flowers were made from a rad kit from Paper Source called “Vintage Blooms”. Crowns are soooo rad! They are made of paper and are so lovely in person. I bought them from an antique store.
Isn't it perfect? Gracie and Zeke make a fabulous couple and take beautiful photographs. I can just see them laughing and reminiscing ten years from now at just how perfect young love really is -- Dr. Seuss books, Granny Smith apples for snack time and matching Converse sneakers. Bliss.
I hope you're all enjoying your weekends, although I can't believe Sunday is here already! I have two exams looming over my head and the library is calling my name. xo!

polka dots, strips & everything nice

{via boden}
...these Canvas Plimsolls are the perfect summer shoe. A few lime green polka dots, some tangerine stripes and crisp white laces to tie it all together {pun intended}. I need a pair of these to chase around the little munchkins at the park on those hot summer afternoons.
Happy Saturday morning! The sun has broken through the clouds and I'm headed outside to enjoy my day off. xo

weekend recap & a whole lot of blessings

I'm home! I had one fantastic blur of a weekend in the Midwest -- very busy, very fast, very fun. We had two crazy nights out at KU, one rainy day in Kansas City, a long ten-hour drive to Wisconsin and one leisurely family day before a late flight back home last night. I'm exhausted, but I'm back at school and gearing up for three insanely full weeks of classes and one week of finals before we pack up the car and make the trek back to Milwaukee for the summer.
Can you keep up? I'm trying to, but as life gets busier and busier, time moves faster and faster and my head starts to spin. Phew!
I need to keep reminding myself how wonderfully blessed I am to have so many things on my 'plate.' The stress of finishing a Political Science research paper is nothing compared to the blessing of being able to be here, in college, getting a degree of my choice. The worry and work from all the relationships in my life just reminds me how lucky I am to have those people to love and to miss and to worry about. The frustration of figuring out my summer plans or my life after graduation is a constant reminder that my future is bright and full of opportunity! It's all good and I'm grateful for every ounce of stress that sometimes makes me want to scream.
How's that for a little Tuesday afternoon inspiration? I'm off to conquer my to-do list which, unfortunately, does not include blogging about my latest summer wardrobe obsessions. But, you can check them out here and here and obsess accordingly. Happy Tuesday! xo.

By the time you read this I'll be flying high in the sky, enjoying a good book and a bubbly ginger ale in seat 13A.
I'm checking out of school and work to spend three short but glorious days in Kansas with Mikey and friends. The forecast calls for plenty of sunshine and the agenda is filled with graduation celebrations, dinners-out and lots of fun. Here's hoping your weekend is just as fabulous! Until Tuesday... xo.

have a seat

Some fabulously fun chairs from Apartment Therapy for your Wednesday evening...
What do you think -- Are you bold enough to try? I think they'd be brilliant in an otherwise neutral room; A chair like this is the last place you'd expect a fun pattern, and what a fun surprise for your behind!

rain, monday & green boots

{image by Emerson Made via design darling}
Happy Monday, loves! It's a grey, wet morning where I am -- makes a Monday that much more brutal. But, a hot cup of coffee and the fact that I only have a four day week is keeping me motivated! I had a very productive weekend, but I thoroughly wished I could've been in three places at once to help celebrate Mother's Day in Mercer Island and Mikey's birthday in Lawrence. I hope you had a magnificent weekend and gave your moms lots of love! I'm off to take a long, soaking walk to campus for a full day of Latino politics and investigative reporting... If only I had those chic green rain boots to get me there! xo.

my birthday boy!

Happy Sunday, and a very very Happy Birthday to my Michael! You make me happier every single day than I ever thought possible. Here's to 22 fabulous years of life and many, many more (together)! I love you!! xo

dress & design [farmhouse]

On this early Friday morning I'm daydreaming of a weekend getaway to the country and the perfect sunny outfit to go along with it...
...Soft blues, ivories, browns & yellows would be the perfect compliment to a rustic farmhouse retreat. If only I weren't stuck in a computer workshop all weekend long! I could really use some down-home cooking and wide open spaces instead... Happy Friday, readers! xo

obsessing over...

...this flawless vera wang wedding dress -- effortless & exclusive & perfect!
{via aisle dash}

i got you, babe

I'm green with envy at the seriously stylish 'Hamptons' collection over at Baby Gap. I'll take the sunburst printed romper with the eyelet espadrilles in a 'grown-up' size, please!
That corsage two-piece and the floppy hat... the striped tank dress and the rolled up denim jacket... silver ballet flats with that floral empire tank... perfectly stylish for a [very] young fashionista.
This week flew by, thankfully -- I can't stop dreaming of hot summer days and long steamy nights. Only a few more weeks of school until I can bust out my corsage two-piece and floppy hat and lounge by the pool. Happy Thursday!

simply sweet

This morning I fell in love with a different kind of wedding. Kelly and Cameron got married at City Hall in Salt Lake City in an intimate vintage ceremony -- an idea so romantic that it almost makes me think about giving up all of my ideas of my future wedding (almost!). Photographer Leo Patrone captured every tender moment beautifully. Enjoy!

"As far as a story or anything about the day we kind of just wanted to do it our own way. The style was something I got from the building, as well as my own love of vintage. I went with the art deco/30’s style. I love old Hollywood so I took a lot of time putting my dress/his attire together. I wanted it to be classy and glamorous!" -as quoted from Once Wed

pretty colors [pastels]

Feeling inspired tonight by a pastel color palette... They're fresh, they're flattering and they're calming. Spruce up your neutral summer wardrobe by adding a subtle pop of a pretty lavender, or freshen up your home by splashing a soft yellow on the walls. Try a statement piece of jewelry or a blush sequin top. Any way you wear it, style it, arrange it or display it, pastels are sure to brighten up any dreary Monday!

looking forward to...

...a soft mattress, fluffy pillows and room temperatures all night long. Camping trip was a success -- pictures coming soon -- but I'm certainly ready for a clean shower and a comfy bed! I'm going to melt onto that pillow and love every second of it. Hope you all had a fabulous weekend ... xo!
