my 13th summer

This weekend marks the transition from July to August. And despite immense denial on my part, the calendar continues to move forward. I must say, summer feels a whole lot different as a "grown-up" ... drafting papers on the philosophy of love, carting a van-full of kids to tennis practice and running errands all day... I miss the endless days of summer when I was 13-years-old" There was no alarm clock, there was no calendar and there was no responsibility. What to order for lunch at the pool and who would come over for night games were my biggest concerns: bliss.
As we sail into August at lightning speed, it's time to enjoy these last few weeks of summer because before I know it, I'll be en route back to Washington for classes, an internship and some cooler weather. Have a fantastic weekend, and cheers to the last (and hopefully best) month of the summer! xo.

wedding inspiration [clean luxury]

Good Thursday morning, loves! So sorry for my absence this week -- the time seems to be passing by a bit too quickly. But I'm back this morning with a real treat: a picturesque white wedding in Laguna Beach. Typically, I'm partial to a more vibrant color palate, but this crisp, clean affair has stolen my heart and there's no turning back.
I'm simply swooning over every luxurious detail: the bride's stunning Oscar DeLaRenta gown, the cliffside views and the abundance of hydrangas and peonies, all in clean shades of white and ivory. To see more pretty pictures and read about the brilliant details, click here! xo.

i'm back: older and wiser

Good Friday morning! The birthday celebrating is over, the recovering is completed and I'm back in action one year older. I've always loved birthdays, and -- my friends and family will tell you -- mine has always been a big deal! There's something so exciting about the parties, the cards, the cake and... well, the presents. Growing up, my "one big day" was quickly transformed into one gigantic month. My loved ones sweetly obliged with special dinners, lots of attention and the endless countdown ("Three months and 4 days until my birthday!!"). And even though I'm growing up and toning down my birthday obsession (slightly), I still can't help but love July 20th! This year was no exception.

I had the most perfect 22nd birthday and three days later, I'm still feeling the love! And although I won't bore you with the details, I will delight you with a few picture highlights :)
And I certainly can't forget my favorite birthday surprise: my fabulous new Canon Rebel, courtesy of Kim & Carl. Of course, I have no picture of that because, well, it's hard to take a picture of the thing that takes the pictures.
So, thanks to everyone who made my birthday so special. I love each and every one of you and feel so blessed to have you in my life. Here's to a fabulous 22nd year of life! xo.

Ahh... Tonight I'm dreaming of these soft, refreshingly white beds. We had a fantastic blur of a weekend in Chicago and now I'm ready to collapse into some of these cool, plush linens. Pictures coming soon, but for now... I'm off to catch up on the Bachelorette (go Roberto!) and hit the hay! xo.

a rainy day+my first giveaway [coming soon]

Good morning! I'm finding myself thankful for a grey, rainy sky today. The sun has been fabulous, but it's about time I stay inside and get some things done! I have a to-do list the size of Texas and the rain is just the excuse I need to lock myself indoors and cross some things off.
Now my number one challenge will be to stay off the internet and keep myself from clicking through Lonny Mag and all of your beautiful blogs again...
Enjoy your Thursday, and stay tuned in the coming week for mckenzie blair's first giveaway! xo.

match made in heaven: [coral+turquoise]

The only thing more perfect than a coral pout is the same stunning color in the form of jewelry. This summer, it's impossible to ignore the brilliance that is coral and now, I'm swooning over the rich hue paired with an earthy turquoise. The combination is flawless: beachy, bright and oh-so-stylish.
Happy Wednesday loves! xo.

wedding inspiration ["vintage americana"]

Because I'm not quite ready to let the holiday end, tonight I'd like to share this adorable Fourth of July-inspired wedding with all of you. I'm loving the strawberry beverages and patriotic bridesmaids dresses. And that bride can do no wrong in her shiny red pumps and vintage mini-dress. If you're going to share your big day with America's big day, this is the way to do it!
What did you do for the Fourth? Here's hoping your holiday was as festive and fabulous as this American wedding. Cheers!
